FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What if I want to get professional help for our relationship, but my spouse doesn’t?
Believe it or not, this is a very common situation and you need not worry too much about it at first. We have found considerable amount of success coaching just one spouse at a time and creating excellent results. Obviously it is not an ideal way to work on our relationships, but we think that one head working on the problems is better than no one working on them.
What is relationship coaching?
Relationship Coaching is a specialty area of coaching which enables couples to build relationship skills, develop character, and recreate the feelings of love and passion they had on their wedding day.
How does coaching differ from counseling?
Counseling utilizes far less skill building activities and may lead to labeling your difficulties as psychological. Coaching, however, focuses on teaching you tools to feed your marriage. Coaching relies on activities that build your skill-set and allow you to walk away with new tools to use in your marriage.
Is coaching more or less expensive than counseling or therapy?
Coaching is generally the same hourly price as counseling, but the sessions are twice as long and focus on skill-building. You’ll receive more tools, skills, materials, skill practice, and goal setting activities than you would with any therapist.
Is it covered by insurance?
Coaching and education are rarely covered by insurance. Coaching requires out of pocket pay which generally leads to you being more proactive and committed about the process and results.
How long is my membership active and how does the program work?
This is a 12 week program and we suggest you watch one module per week. However, you can go through the course at your own pace and watch the videos as many times as you like. You will have access to the videos indefinitely.
What’s a typical coaching session like?
One of the first things we do is follow up on the assignments that were agreed upon the previous week to determine what is working and what needs adjustment. In the second half, we usually begin working on new communication skills and conflict resolution exercises. Lastly, we will spend time practicing the skills in role play situations.
Will I have any access to Matt personally?
All training modules and materials have been created by Dr. Matt. Your enrollment fee provides personal email access to a certified coach who’s been personally trained by Matt.
What if our relationship is too far gone, too damaged? Is coaching even worth it?
Some couples begin feeding their marriage literally in the middle of their divorce, and they’ve managed to remove negative patterns and learn the skills necessary to save their marriages. Divorce doesn't mean you no longer have a relationship with your ex spouse, especially if you have kids. So we suggest you always learn to relate first and then decide if you want to divorce.
